There is a known issue that happens with Understand when the program “Dell Backup and Recovery” (DBR) is installed. The way DBR creates overlay icons causes Understand (and other tools developed using Qt) to crash when navigating for a file. The next upgrade to Qt will hopefully address this. In the meantime the workaround is to turn of the Overlay in DBR.

Instructions to turn off Overlay

Open Dell Backup and Recovery. For that go to Start => All programs => Dell => Dell Backup and Recovery

Step 1: Click on “Backup” in the center of the screen.

Step 2: Click on “System Backup” on the left side of the screen

Step 3: Click on “More Options” in the upper right corner

Step 4: Click on “Miscellaneous” at the bottom left

Step 5: Turn off “Overlay” and click the “Apply” button

Step 6: Restart your PC
