A node locked license is a license for Understand that will work for all users of a given machine. A node locked license will only work for users physically using that machine. The node locked license will not work for users logging into the machine remotely.
Node lock license setup instructions:
This process requires admin privileges
- On the machine where Understand is installed open an admin terminal and cd to the SciTools\bin\<OS> folder
- Create the Nodelock Request Code with the command "und -createnodelockrequestcode" ( This step requires admin rights so on Linux machines, use sudo )
- In the Licensing Portal, find the license you wish to checkout and hit the checkout toggle and then enter the request code.
4. If you have multiple licenses make sure to use a meaningful name to help you remember where this licenses is installed. You can also select an earlier expiration date if you want the license returned before it expires.
5. A message will pop up with your reply code and expiration date and the command to enter them.
6. Back on the machine where Understand is installed run the command in the SciTools\bin\<OS> folder using admin rights (sudo) "und -setnodelockreplycode XXXXXXXXXX -expiration XXXX-XX-XX"
For Understand 5.0 and earlier, use this command instead"und -setnodelockreplycode XXXXXXXX -setnodelockreplydate XXXX-XX-XX"
7. That should be everything you need. If you run into any issues, please contact us at support@scitools.com
Returning a Node Lock License
If you finish using Understand in Offline mode before the expiration date you can check the license back into the Licensing Portal so it can be used on other machines.
This process requires admin privileges
- Open a terminal and cd to the SciTools\bin\<OS> folder
- Run the following command to invalidate the license and create a return code "und -shownodelockreturncode" (This step requires admin rights so on Linux machines, use sudo )
- Enter the Return Code in the License Portal. Use the Offline Code and the green Offline badges, to find the matching Node-Lock license in the Portal and select Options->Check-In License.
Enter the Return code to Checkin the license.
5. That’s it, your license should be freed up to be used on a different machine now! If you run into any issues, please contact us at support@scitools.com
Extend a Nodelock License
Nodelock licenses can be extended so they don't have to be checked back in when it comes time to renew your license:
- Log into licensing.scitools.com, find your Nodelock license card, and select Options->Extend Offline License.
- Helios will prove an extension code and date we can use in Understand. The command looks like this "und -extendnodelockcode XXXXXXX -extendnodelockdate XXXX-XX-XX" ( This step requires admin rights ).
